Off grid living course
Your chance to learn first hand, just what is needed to live off grid comfortably with limited kit. The only indigenous course with modern day skills.
If you want to learn: how and where to construct improvised shelters that can withstand strong winds and rain, collect, process and maintain wood as fuel for cooking and heat, build wood ovens and improvised wood burners, collect, harvest and store water, plan pantry stores, growing vegetables and herbs in the wild, foraging for food and medicines, along with preserving, including simple brewing, smoking and salting for long term storage, together with cooking restaurant quality food on a fire.
Also covering: the equipment and hand tools needed, maintenance and safe usage. Alternative off grid power sources including wind, solar and generator use, advantages and disadvantages.
Each course is set over 2 days and one evening. Camping is in our woodland base camp, accommodation is provided in the form of of individual (your sleeping system) or communal wild camping in the shelter you construct. Food is provided, prepared and cooked as a matter of course. The base camp is fully off grid with a composting toilet, solar shower and 12v power charging facilities (we all need to stay connected)
Shelter: long term shelter using easily available resources.
Fire: the various fire types for cooking and heat.
Water: acquiring, collecting and storing.
Plants and flowers – preparing, cooking, pickling, preserves and home brewing.
Meat and Game – preparing, cooking, salting, smoking, curing, air drying.
Fish and Shellfish – preparing, cooking, pickling, salting, smoking, curing, air drying.
Plants and fruits – preparing, cooking, pickling, preserving, home brewing.
These courses are fully catered with the food produced off grid, along side long term pantry stores – cooking is part demonstrated and hands on.
